Just a quick note...

Barnett--Casto--Jividen--Sturgeon

As I was working on the photo album section recently, I ran across an old e-mail saying I had some information wrong in my database.  After much researching and corresponding, I believe I do have it wrong.  If you are related to Barnetts or Jividens, this may be of interest to you.

Robert Barnett, Jr. (1831-1923) married Elizabeth Casto (1833-~1901) (dau. of Jonathan Magdalene (Wetherholt) Casto) in 1849 in Jackson Co., WV.  They had 12 children, including a daughter Cora born in 1875, whom I mistakenly believed had married Geordie Jividen about 1892.  Geordie was married to a woman named Cora in 1892, just not Robert's daughter.  HOWEVER, if you looked closely, you would see that in 1910 Robert Barnett is living next door to Geordie Jividen and in 1920, he is living with the Jividen family, listed as "father-in-law".  How could he not be Cora's father and still be listed as "father-in-law", I asked?  Well, it went like this:

When Elizabeth Casto Barnett died around 1901, her husband, Robert Barnett, married a second time to a woman named Mary Ann.  Mary Ann had been married twice before herself, first to William Sturgeon and second to Jacob Hendershot.  By her first husband, she had 9 children, one named Cora, born in 1878.  The Jividens and Barnetts moved to Oklahoma in 1903.  So, when we see Robert and second wife, Mary Ann, living with the Jividens in 1920, it is not with Robert's daughter, Cora, but his wife's daughter Cora.

The descendent who brought this error to my attention was Carolyn Jividen Miller.  At present, she does not have time to dig up the marriage records for me but from the other evidence I have been able to find, I believe her version is correct and have adjusted my database.
