Harrison County was created in 1784 from Monongalia County, (West) Virginia.
At that time, Harrison County included all or parts of the following counties:
Barbour, Braxton, Doddridge, Gilmer, Lewis, Marion, Randolph, Ritchie, Taylor,
and Upshur. Records for residents of all of these counties prior to their
formation will be found in Harrison County and/or Monongalia County.
