George W. CASTO

Mr. George W. CASTO died this (Tuesday) morning at his home near Fairplain. He was 83 or 84 years of age, a quiet and respected citizen. He is survived by two brothers, N. L. and R. P. CASTO; four sons, S. S., A. B., J. T., and A. D. CASTO; three daughters, Ruth BLANKENSHIP, Sidney HILL, and Lizzie CARNEY. Interment at Mt. Moriah Cemetery Wednesday at 10 o'clock a.m. (Mountaineer, 10 Feb 1911)


George W. CASTO

George W. CASTO was born June 19, 1826. Departed this life February 7, 1911, aged 84 years, 7 months and 18 days. He was married to Minerva SAYRE in the year 1849. To this union were born 10 children, of whom seven are living, three girls dying in childhood, two of these being buried in one grave. His wife preceded him to that happy land about 20 years earlier. Gladys CASTO

Gladys CASTO, the little seven months old daughter of Dr. and Mrs. F. S. CASTO, of Kenna, died Saturday night at eleven o'clock, pneumonia being the cause of death. The remains were buried from Pleasant Valley Church Monday, Rev. T. O. POWERS of the Baptist Church officiated. (Mountaineer, 31 March 1911)

Gladys Frances Hedrick CASTO

CHESHIRE, Ohio - Gladys Frances Hedrick CASTO, 75, of Cheshire, formerly of Cross Lanes, W.Va., died Feb. 8, 1999, in Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis, after a long illness. She was a member of Poplar Ridge Freewill Baptist Church. Surviving: husband, Carroll Curtis CASTO; daughter, Ruth Ann Hively of Vinton; sons, Clyde Leslie, Gary Curtis and Charles Alan, all of Gallipolis; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Poplar Ridge Freewill Baptist Church, near Cheshire, with the Rev. Ron Lemley and the Rev. Caudle Adkins officiating. Burial will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Cheshire. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Gallipolis. (Charleston Gazette, Feb. 10, 1999)

Golda Mae Barber CASTO

RAVENSWOOD - Golda Mae Barber CASTO, 73, of Ravenswood died May 16, 1999, in Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg. She was a homemaker and a member of Eastern Star Chapter 420, Litchfield, Ohio, and Flatwoods United Methodist Church. Surviving: daughter, Juda Ann Coleman of Marietta, Ohio; brothers, Wayne and Bill Barber, both of Ripley, Arch Barber of Springboro, Ohio; sisters, Velma Sharpe and June Corbin, both of Ravenswood; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at CASTO Funeral Home, Evans, with the Rev. Gerald B. Sayre and the Rev. Rodney McColligan officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery, Rock Castle. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, where there will be an Eastern Star service at 7:30. Granvil F. CASTO
Granvil F. CASTO, 71, of Dunbar, died Wednesday in General Division, GAMC, after a short illness. He was a retired Dunbar businessman. He was a member of the Nitro Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Bodies and Junior Order of Mechanics. He was a lifelong resident of Dunbar. Surviving are wife, Reva; brothers: Basil, Delbert and Wayne, all of Dunbar; Curtis of Melbourne, Florida; sisters: Mrs. Lenora Withrow of Dunbar; Mrs. Faye Clendenin of Melbourne, Florida; Mrs. Wilma Shredd of Ravenswood, and four grandchildren. Service was Saturday in Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Robert Lett officiating. Burial was in Moss Chapel Church cemetery, Rockcastle. RIPLEY - Howard H. Casto, 82, of Ripley died Sept. 22, 2003. Service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, at Casto Funeral Home, Evans. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Fairplain Cemetery.  (Charleston Gazette)

Howard Lee CASTO Jr., 73, of Charleston died Jan. 8, 1999, at home after a long illness. He was a retired weighmaster from Union Carbide with 35 years' service and a member of Elks Lodge 202, Charleston. Surviving: wife, Violet CASTO; son, Ralph Edward CASTO of Charleston; brother, Kenneth L. CASTO of Charleston; sister, Norma L. Patton of Charleston; grandchildren, John H. and Kara B. CASTO, both of Charleston. Private family graveside service will be Sunday in Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston.
