Jonathan Granville CASTO Jonathan Granville CASTO, 78, formerly of Rockcastle, and the father of O. H. CASTO, director of the Bank of Ripley, died at 7 o'clock Wednesday morning at his home in Charleston after a long illness. Mr. CASTO was a native of the Rockcastle community where he spent the greater part of his life as a farmer. He had resided in Charleston for the past 15 years. He is survived by the following children: Mrs. Corda FERGUSON, of Rockcastle, Mrs. Georgia PARSONS, of Red House, Mrs. Hattie CASTO of Given, Mrs. Leona STRUM of Hur, WV., O. H. CASTO of Rockcastle, P. T. CASTO of Circleville, Ohio, John CASTO and Camden CASTO of Akron, Ohio, Rev. William CASTO of Clarksburg, and Leo CASTO of Parkersburg. (Herald, 7 Feb 1941)
Aunt Katie CASTO Aunt Katie CASTO, the oldest person in the county, and perhaps the state, died on September 26, 1913, after a brief illness. She was 106 years old. She was able to do her own housework until a few days of her death when she was stricken with paralysis. She was the second wife of Benny CASTO, deceased. The remains were interred at Foster Chapel, Rev. MOWYER having charge of the service. (Mountaineer, 10 Oct 1913)
Kenneth L. Casto Kenneth L. CASTO, 63, of Charleston died March 11, 1999, in General Division, CAMC. He was an employee of Liquid Transport Corp., attended Emmanuel Baptist Church, Charleston, was a Teamster and an Army veteran. Surviving: wife, Patricia A. CASTO; son, Doug CASTO of Fairmont; daughter, Cathy Koontz of Charleston; sister, Norma Patton of Charleston; grandson, Zachary Koontz of Charleston. Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home, Charleston, with the Rev. Ron Stoner officiating. Burial will be in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. L. Pauline CASTO L. Pauline CASTO, 79, of St. Albans died Sept. 14, 1994, at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston, after a long illness. She was a homemaker and a Methodist. Surviving; sisters, Bernice F. Musick of St. Albans, Barbara M. Meadows of Lantana Fla., several nieces and nephews. Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Snodgrass Funeral Home, South Charleston, W.Va. with the Rev. Jim Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Memorial Park, Ruth. Laceryiette Vastenna Williams CASTO CASTO Laceryjette Vastenna Williams Casto, age 85, of Columbus, a wife, mother, artist and community volunteer, died Tuesday, June 19, 2001 at First Community Village Health Care Center following a long courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Lacy was born on July 29, 1915 in Waverly, W.Va. and moved to Columbus when she was a teenager. She was a member of First Community Church and a very frequent volunteer at that church's Trading Post. Laura J. CASTO Laura J. CASTO, 100, of White Sulphur Springs, died Feb. 1, 2001, at home. She was a retired employee of The Greenbrier, White Sulphur Springs, and a former member of Kate Carpenter Rebekah Lodge and the VFW Women's Auxiliary. She was a homemaker and member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, White Sulphur Springs. Surviving: daughters, Louise Worline of Valparaiso, Ind., June Harbaugh and Frances Spinks, both of White Sulphur Springs; sister, Ella Sue Moore of Alexandria, Va.; brother, Ralph D. Corron of Covington, Va.; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-great-grandchildren. Service will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Shanklin Funeral Home, White Sulphur Springs, with the Rev. Elizabeth A. Walker and the Rev. Gary Waple officiating. BRADENTON, Fla. - Laura P. CASTO, 55, of Bradenton, formerly of South Charleston, W.Va., died Dec. 23, 1997, in Hospice Center, Bradenton, after a long illness. She was a hairdresser in the Kanawha Valley (W.Va.) for 36 years and former owner and operator of Sassy Scissors, South Charleston. Surviving: husband, James; son, James A. of Palm Bay; daughter, Jeannette Marshall of Inman, S.C.; brother, Lawrence J. Kelly of Charleston, W.Va.; four grandchildren. Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home, Charleston, with the Rev. William Layne Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Fisher Cemetery, Sissonville, W.Va.
