Mrs. Leota (Rhodes) CASTO Tuberculosis caused the death of Mrs. Leota (RHODES) CASTO, wife of Oscar CASTO, which occurred at 3 o'clock last Tuesday afternoon near Skidmore. Mrs. CASTO was about 30 years of age and was a daughter of Joseph RHODES, of Bear Fork. She is survived by her husband and two children. Interment was made Thursday in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Lillie May CASTO Funeral services for Lillie May CASTO, 77, widow of the late Dr. O. J. CASTO, Sr., were held in McPherson, Kansas, Thursday afternoon and burial was in a cemetery there. She died the previous Sunday night. Mrs. CASTO formerly lived at Evans, later moving to Ripley, and a few years later she and Dr. CASTO moved to Garden City, Kansas. She had been a resident of McPherson Hutchinson, Kansas. Dr. CASTO died in 1921. Survivors include two daughters: Mrs. Frankie C. Babbitt of Hutchinson; and Mrs. Donald C. Crawford of McPherson; two sons: O. J. CASTO of Oakland, California; and Keith CASTO of McPherson; seven grandchildren and two brothers. Louis H. CASTO Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 17th for Louis H. CASTO, 84 year-old resident of Given, who died Tuesday at the home of his nephew, Wade CASTO. Burial was in the family cemetery at Eighteen Mile with the Mays and Parsons mortuary of Dunbar in charge. The aged man is survived by two brothers, C. O. CASTO of Given, and Mack CASTO of Paradise. Mrs. Louisa Jane (Ranson-Harrison) CASTO Mrs. Louisa Jane (RANSON-HARRISON) CASTO, widow of the late Elmore H. CASTO, died at 5 o'clock Saturday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. I. W. HILL, at Given, aged 77 years. Mrs. CASTO was twice married, her first being Bushrod HARRISON. After his death she married Mr. Elmore CASTO. Seven children survive. The remains were interred in the Rock Springs Cemetery on Poca River on Tuesday. [Louise married Bushrod HARRISON on 7 Dec 1856 and is buried beside him. Elmore CASTO is buried beside his first wife, Phoebe CUNNINGHAM CASTO. [Phoebe died in 1880.] (Mountaineer, 10 Jan 1913)
Macil L. CASTO POCA Macil L. CASTO, 85, of Poca, formerly of Mount Etna Ridge, died March 7, 1999, at home after a long illness. She was a three-year resident of Poca and a member of Hometown Senior Citizens, the Farm Women s Club, and Paradise Church of God Mission. Surviving: son, Gilbert O. CASTO of Poca. Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Gatens Funeral Home, Poca, with the Rev. Doug McComas officiating. Entombment will be in Haven of Rest Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Margaret Alice Slaughter CASTO Funeral services for Mrs. B. D. CASTO, of Cottageville, were held from the United Brethren church there Monday afternoon with Rev. Roy DAVIS in charge and burial was in the Blaine Memorial cemetery. Mrs. CASTO died at her home Sunday after several weeks' illness caused by a heart ailment. She was a native of Ripley and was 76 years old at the time of her death. The husband, B. D. CASTO, survives. The Vail mortuary had charge of funeral arrangements. Margaret Alice SLAUGHTER was born near Ripley, WV., April 26, 1865. Departed this life April 5, 1942, aged 76 years, 11 months and 9 days. In the early part of her life she made her home with her grandparents, who were commonly known as "Uncle Jimmie and Aunt Rachel" SLAUGHTER. These old people spent their years on Cow Run, Jackson county, near where the Silver Valley schoolhouse now stands. By Alice, these kind people were always referred to as "Daddy and Mother," and always with such an affectionate devotion as could have been born only in the heart of a child as she was, and then manifested appreciation all down thru life as the years went by. On March 13, 1898, Alice, as she was familiarly known, was united in marriage to B. D. CASTO, of Jackson County. During the forty-four years of their married lives they have lived in Union District, Jackson County. The last twenty years of that period were spent in their present home, in Cottageville. Mrs. CASTO was converted in early life and was a member of the Otterbein U. B. church. (Jackson Herald, Friday 10 April 1942)
