Russell Darel CASTO Sr. Russell Darel CASTO Sr., 86, of Belle died April 17, 1999, in Memorial Division, CAMC, after a long illness. e was a retired operator and tankerman for DuPont, Belle, with 39 years' service, and was a retired chaplain for Belle Fire Department. He was a member of Belle Church of the Nazarene, served as delegate to the Silver Haired Legislature, and was appointed by Gov. Gaston Caperton to the Commission r on Aging. He was born in White Sulphur Springs and was a 62-year resident of Belle. Surviving: wife, Maxine Marie Mullins CASTO; daughter, Nancy K. Siders of Belle; son, Russell Darel CASTO Jr. of Bidwell, Ohio; sister, Loua Clements of White Sulphur Springs; brother, Earl CASTO of White Sulphur Springs; seven grandchildren; 12 great- grandchildren. Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Belle Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Norman Phillips and the Rev. Jack Albert officiating. Burial will be in Montgomery Memorial Park, London. Mrs. Ruth (BOWLES) CASTO, widow of the late J. R. CASTO, died at 2 o'clock Monday morning at the home of her son, Will CASTO, on Parchment. Mrs. CASTO was 78 years, 1 month and three days of age and was an estimable woman. Death was due to heart failure. Deceased is survived by three sons, one daughter, three brothers and one sister: Will and Charles CASTO of this county, Frank CASTO of Putnam County, Mrs. Sallie MITCHELL of East Liverpool, Ohio, Rev. M. B. and A. S. BOWLES, and Miss Fannie BOWLES. (Ruth was born 8 Oct 1834 in Jackson County, died November 11, 1912. She married John R. CASTO in May 1854 and was the mother of eight children). Samuel S. CASTO
Samuel S. CASTO died suddenly on Thursday morning at his home on the Ripley-Ravenswood Pike. He was returning to the house from doing the feeding and had nearly reached the doorstep when his wife heard him call. She hurried to his side and found him unconscious. He expired a few minuted later, before doctors, who had been called, could reach the home. Deceased was 59 years of age. He is survived by three daughters and two sons. Following funeral services, conducted by Rev. T. H. RYMER of the United Brethren Church, the remains were interred in the Oak Hill Cemetery at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon. CHERRY FALLS - Two Webster County teen-agers died in an early Saturday car accident. John Allen Utt, 16, of Webster Springs and Shawn Gregory CASTO, 16, of Diana were killed in the 12:26 a.m. wreck, according to dispatcher K.W. Burner of the State Police detachment at Elkins. Burner said the teens were traveling on W.Va. 15, also known as Point Mountain Road, 2 miles east of Cherry Falls in Webster County. No other vehicles appeared to have been involved. Utt was a student. Surviving Utt: father, Kenneth Darrell Utt of Webster Springs; half brothers, Randall Utt of Virginia, Joel Ignos of Marlinton; half sisters, Cindy Cogar of Heathsville, Va., Tammy McCourt of Franklin, Va.; maternal grandmother, Roxie Wilson of Diana; several aunts and uncles. Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home, Webster Springs, with the Rev. Minter Lynch officiating. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery, Webster Springs. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. CASTO was born in Webster Springs.
