Alfred FIELDS Alfred FIELDS, 53 years old, a farmer of the Staats Mills community, died at the Starcher hospital in Ripley Monday night after a brief illness. The funeral services were held at the home near Staats Mills on Wednesday with Rev. Boyd SCOTT in charge and burial was in the George CASTO cemetery. He is survived by his wife, three brothers, Fred, Enoch and William FIELDS, all of Staats Mills, and three sisters, Mrs. Tillie FISHER, of Gay; Mrs. Leola MILLER, of Letart, and Mrs. Della THOMAS, of Staats Mills. Samantha FIELDS Mrs. Samantha FIELDS, 82 years old, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Maude CASTO, at Belgrove Saturday. Services were held Monday at the Mt. Hermon church. (Friday, 26 December 1941)
Columbia A. (CASTO) FISHER Funeral services for Mrs. Columbia A. (CASTO) FISHER, 87 years old, were held from the Pleasant View church on Fisher Ridge near Kentuck Saturday morning at eleven o'clock and burial followed in the family cemetery. Mrs. FISHER died at the home Thursday morning after an illness of some length due to complications which resulted from her advanced age. She was the widow of the late County Commissioner Pleasant S. FISHER and was a widely known woman in her section of the county where she had spent the greater portion of her life. Rev. J. Wesley GARRISON, a long time friend of the FISHER family, had charge of the funeral rites and the Mays-Parsons mortuary had charge of the arrangements. Mrs. FISHER is survived by the following children: Romeo FISHER, of Walton; F. R. FISHER, of Kenna; M. B. FISHER, of Glenville; Mrs. C. L. STAATS, of Fairplain; Mrs. L. A. HIGGINBOTHAM, of Dunbar, and Mrs. E. B. KEE, of Charleston. Also four brothers and one sister, I. C. CASTO and H. L. CASTO, of Fairplain; H. J. Exle Lona (CASTO) FISHER Exle Lona (CASTO) FISHER, daughter of the late Jacob and Martha CASTO, was born June 30, 1876, died June 18, 1947, aged 70 years, 11 months and 18 days. She was married to Abraham Franklin FISHER 52 years ago and to them were born eight children, six surviving, three sons and three daughters: Hobert, Okey and Oshel FISHER, Clara LEWIS, Mary FABER and Arva REDMAN. Her husband and two sons preceded her in death. Also surviving are 27 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She leaves three brothers and two sisters to mourn their loss, Charles, Rector and Delford CASTO, ........ Morris and Nancy THOMPSON and a host of friends and relatives. Funeral services were conducted at Watts Chapel June 20, 1947 with Hobson FISHER officiating. Interment was made at the CASTO Cemetery at Fairplain. (Jackson Herald, Fri., 11 July 1947)
Marcella CUNNINGHAM FISHER Mrs. Marcella CUNNINGHAM FISHER, 79 year old widow of the late John H. FISHER, died at her home in Charleston Tuesday morning after a long illness. She was born at Kenna but had lived in Charleston for the past 25 years. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Docia A. YOUNG and Mrs. Freda R. RUPE; a foster-son, Harry H. ROLLINS, and two granddaughters, Mrs. Bertha ALLEN and Miss Patty Ann RUPE, all of Charleston; two brothers, E. F. CUNNINGHAM, of Charleston and F. E. CUNNINGHAM, of Kenna, and four sisters, Mrs. Eliza SMITH of Charleston, Mrs. Mary CASTO of Dunbar, Mrs. Alice PARSONS of Belgrove, and Mrs. Dana CARNEY, of Kenna. (10 Oct 1941)
Martha Louisa (MONDAY) FISHER Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon at the Emma Chapel church for Mrs. Martha Louisa (MONDAY) FISHER, 75 years old, and burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. J. W. GARRISON had charge of the service. Mrs. FISHER, who was the widow of the late Sylvester FISHER, died at her home on Saturday after an extended illness. Death had been expected. The following obituary was read at the funeral: Martha Louisa MONDAY FISHER, born May 19, 1866, departed this life March 7, 1942 at the age of 75 years, 9 months and 16 days. She was united in marriage to Sylvester FISHER, who preceded her in death May 7, 1935. Born to this union were nine children: Eva C. FISHER, at home; William S., Edgar F., Howard H., and Mrs. John BONNETT, all of Liberty, WV.; Mrs. Easter O. CRAIGO, of Plymouth, WV.; Wesley F. and Sylvester E. FISHER, both of Dunbar; Effie E. FISHER, deceased. Twenty-five grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. John CASTO of Kenna, and five brothers, J. E. MONDAY of Charleston; C. W. MONDAY of Dunbar; W. W., F. M., and E. F. MONDAY, of Liberty. Two brothers deceased, J. W. and H. S. MONDAY. She was united with the Methodist church at an early age. (Jackson Herald, Fri., 13 March 1942)
