EVANS - Gregory Patrick Kernahan, 81, of Evans died March 15, 2000, in General Division, CAMC, after a long illness. He was a retired real estate broker, an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II and a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, Ravenswood. Surviving: wife, Cleo Stover CASTO Kernahan; sons Jerry of Oklahoma City, Kevin of Lawrenceville, Ga., Mike of Traxton, N.Y.; daughters, Mary Beth DeAngelo of Keansburg, N.J., Tracy Gerard of Portland, Ore., Ann Kernahan of Little Switzerland, N.C.; stepson, Gary CASTO of Evans; brother, Arthur of Texas; sisters, Dollie Weidow of Englewood, Fla., Mary Buck of Bath, Maine; 13 grandchildren. Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Matthew Catholic Church with the Rev. John Fahey officiating. Burial will be in Jackson Memory Gardens, Cottageville. SHERMAN - Clinton Rex Kessell, 79, of Sherman died March 9, 2000, in St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg, after a long illness. He was a self-employed farmer and an Army veteran of World War II. Surviving: wife, Maxine CASTO Kessell; daughter, Sherry Stoffel of Sherman; sister, Grace Boggs of Pocatalico; granddaughters, Tammy Coon and Laura Stoffel; two great-grandsons. Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Parsons-Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, with the Rev. James Catron officiating. Ernest KING died in the Printer Mines, Monday March 3, and was buried at Bloomingrose on March 5. Rev. Mr. BIAS preached the funeral. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Dolly MEADOWS KING, eight children, Irene, Paul Ernest, Clarence Edward, Mary, Cecil, Betty, Loretta Mae, and Bobby, all of Racine; also his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jeremiah KING, Mrs. Vernie DAOUST and Mrs. Hannah CASTO, all of Charleston, Ike KING, of Racine, Roma KING, of Costa, Chris KING, of Danville, Mr. Osa KING and Findley KING of Winfield, and Willie KING of Colcord. PLANTATION, Fla. - Hobart Edward King, 79, of Plantation died Sept. 2, 1998, in Holy Cross Hospital, Fort Lauderdale, after a long illness. He was a retired carpenter, former manager of Pompano Fishing Pier, a former security guard for Gault Towers, Fort Lauderdale, and attended First Baptist Church, Weston. Surviving: wife, Virginia CASTO King; daughter, Dolores Ann King of Plantation; brother, Floyd King of Ripley, W.Va.; sisters, Mary Winter of Ripley, Mildred Snyder of Pompano Beach, Evelyn King of Evans, W.Va. Service will be 4 p.m. Saturday at Longview Community Church, Evans, with the Rev. Gerald B. Sayre officiating. Burial will be in the chur ch cemetery. PLANTATION, Fla. - Virginia King, 74, of Plantation died Jan. 16, 1999, in Holy Cross Hospital, Fort Lauderdale, after a short illness. She was a native of Pocatalico, W.Va., and a clerk at Publix supermarket. She was a homemaker and attended First Baptist Church, Weston. Surviving: daughter, Delores Ann King of Plantation; brothers, William CASTO of Ormond Beach, Denvil CASTO of Mount Jackson, Va., Noel CASTO of Ripley, W.Va., Dell CASTO of Merritt Island; one granddaughter. Service will be 4 p.m. Saturday at Longview Community Church, Evans, W.Va., with the Rev. Gerald B. Sayre officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Melvin Greely LANE Melvin Greely LANE, age 65, died at his home here near midnight Tuesday after a two week illness. Mr. LANE, who operated a shoe repair and harness shop on Main Street for many years, had been in poor health for some time, and while his condition the past few days had been serious, his death cames as a shock to his many relatives and friends. Mr. LANE was born near Ripley on April 20, 1876, a son of the late Daniel A. and Sarah Jane (PATTERSON, widow MCCRAKEN) LANE, died July 16, 1941. On April 15, 1906 he was united in marriage with Docia B. CASTO and for many years was engaged in farming in this county. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Lewis A. LANE of Hebron, Ohio, and Wilmer R. LANE of Sandyville; three daughters, Mrs. Mildred CARVER of East Liverpool, Ohio, and Sylvia and Frances LANE at home. Two children died in infancy. Two brothers, M. Lewis LANE and Samuel G. LANE, of Ripley, a sister, Mrs. B. A. (Esta) SNODGRASS of Charleston, and four grandchildren. Funeral services were to be held at the home at 3 o'clock Thursday afternoon, with Rev. L. R. MAHONEY officiating. Burial was to be at the KING cemetery.
