Pearl Clifford OLIVER

POINT PLEASANT - Pearl Clifford Oliver, 85, of Point Pleasant died Nov. 25, 1998, in Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis. He was retired from West Virginia Malleable Iron Co. with 43 years' service, and attended Point Pleasant Wesleyan Church. Surviving: wife, Kathleen McCarty Oliver; sons, Clifford and Charles H. "Slug" Oliver, both of Point Pleasant; daughter, Margaret Oliver Clonch CASTO of Columbus, Ohio; sister, Juanita Bucy of Masseyville, Ohio; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson. Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Wilcoxen Funeral Home, Point Pleasant, with the Rev. John Hathaway and the Rev. H.W. Durst officiating. Burial will be in Suncrest Cemetery, Point Pleasant. Mrs. Addie E. (CASTO) PARSONS

Seated before the open fire, happy and content in the company of her daughter with whom she was laughing and talking, and apparently in perfect health, Mrs. Addie E. (CASTO) PARSONS, Post Mistress at Parchment Valley for more than twenty years, suddenly exclaimed "my head feels so light and is swimming," fell back in her chair, stricken with apoplexy, and expired within the hour, without moving a muscle or gaining consciousness, at 9 o'clock Wednesday evening, age 56. Neighbors were called in, and Dr. PARSONS, who had been summoned by telephone, just started to the home when she ceased breathing. Mrs. PARSONS was the second daughter of Jacob and Celia CASTO, of Fairplain. Thirty-four years ago she was united in marriage to George W. PARSONS, seven years deceased. She was a pure hearted, noble woman, a devoted Christian lady, whose sudden death is a great shock to the members of her family and a legion of friends. She had been a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church for forty years. She is survived by six daughters, four brothers and three sisters: Mrs. D. J. PARSONS of Columbus, Ohio, Mrs. Holly KAY of Danstown, Mrs. J. N. PARSONS of Foster Chapel, Misses Freddie, Georgia and Dollie PARSONS at home; H. J. CASTO of Ripley, H. L. and I. C. CASTO of Fairplain, Rev. Homer CASTO of Pensacola, North Carolina, Mrs. P. S. FISHER of Mt. Tell, Mrs. Harriet RANSON of Buffalo, and Miss Sarah CASTO of Fairplain. The funeral will be held at 11 o'clock Saturday at Mt. Moriah. The remains will be interred beside those of her husband. (Mountaineer, 13 March 1914)

Mrs. Georgia (CASTO) PARSONS

Mrs. George HICKLE received a telegram announcing the death of her sister, Mrs. Georgia (CASTO) PARSONS, which occurred at the City Hospital, Akron, Ohio, Wednesday morning. Death was due to a complications of diseases. Mrs. PARSONS is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin CASTO of Parchment. She is survived by her husband, W. H. PARSONS, four children, Shirley, Otmer, Freda and Watson PARSONS, her parents, four brothers and three sisters, Dr. F. S., F. H., F. H., John C., H. G., and H. L. CASTO, Mrs. George HICKLE, Mrs. W. A. LEE, and Mrs. Addie AUSTIN. The telegram was received too late for any of the relatives to attend the funeral which occurred there Thursday. (Mountaineer, 21 Feb 1913)

Lenora M. (LITTLE) PARSONS

Lenora M. (LITTLE) PARSONS was born March 26, 1856, died October 20, 1912, aged 56 years, 6 months and 28 days. She was married to William Henry PARSONS, November 20, 1875. To them were born seven children, the two oldest, Rufus and Cecil dying in infancy. Those surviving are Grover, Burton and Belle, of Redhouse, Putnam County, Luther of Lone Oak and Mrs. Howard CASTO of Given, WV., this county. Besides her husband and children she is survived by three brothers and three sisters. (She) had moved within the past year to Red House. Her remains were brought to Foster Chapel and interred in the family burying plot, near to her old home. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. MOYER. (Mountaineer, 22 Nov 1912)

Retha M. PERSINGER
Retha M. Persinger, 87, of Nitro died Feb. 22, 1997, at home after a long illness. She was a 49-year resident of Nitro, a 43-year member of West Virginia Home Mission, Nitro, and the church choir, and was church secretary. Surviving: daughter, Virginia M. Persinger at home sons, Charles E. and Paul E., both at home sister, Maxine V. CASTO of Cross Lanes brother, Harold Slater of Nitro. Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at West Virginia Home Mission, Nitro, with Pastor Ray Humphrey and Pastor Joe Scarberry officiating. Burial will be in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Tyler Mountain.
