Jeroma R. ARTHUR MIDWAY - Jeroma R. "Bunny" Arthur, 82, of Midway, Putnam County, died Feb. 22, 1997, in St. Francis Hospital after a short illness. He was retired from Viscose Corporation, Nitro, with 32 years' service, was a cattleman and attended Buffalo Church of God. Surviving: wife, Garnett Goff Arthur daughters, Carolyn CASTO of Midway, Donna Craig of Buffalo sons, Michael R. of Eleanor, Roger D. of Midway nine grandchildren three great-grandchildren. Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Raynes Funeral Home, Buffalo, with the Rev. Virginia Russ and the Rev. Tom Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo Memorial Park, Buffalo. Frances Tince ASHBY RIPLEY - Frances Tince Ashby, 75, of Ripley died Dec. 2, 1998, in Jackson Memorial Hospital. Surviving: son, James of Ripley; daughters, Kathryn Raines of Ripley, Karen McClung of Winfield; brothers, Junior, Alva and Chester Randolph, all of Ripley; sisters, Virginia CASTO, Lucy Randolph and Belvajean Reed, all of Ripley, Joyce Lockwood of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Vail Funeral Home, Ripley, with the Rev. Herman Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Fairplain Cemetery. Swanney Lou CASTO ASHLEY Swanney Lou CASTO Ashley, 59, of Nitro, formerly of Clendenin, died Jan. 31, 1997, in Memorial Division, CAMC, after a long illness. She was a waitress for Holiday Inn, Charleston, Kanawha Country Club and Tri-State Greyhound Park, a member of Winfield Baptist Church and Women of the Moose, Nitro, and a graduate of Clendenin High School. Surviving: sons, Timothy R. of Dunbar, Jeffrey R. of Cross Lanes daughter, Tonya F. Cooper of Buffalo brother, Benjamin W. CASTO of McCormick, S.C. seven grandchildren. Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Winfield Baptist Church with the Rev. Doug McComas officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Sojourners of Charleston. Charles Arville BAKER Charles Arville BAKER, the eldest son of the late Rev. C. J. and Maggie Beattie BAKER, was born June 14, 1882, and departed this life January 12, 1942, aged 59 years, 6 months and 28 days. He was united in marriage to Katie E. SCHULTZE, May 4, 1904. To this union two daughters and one son were born; Gusta BAKER, Point Pleasant; Lloyd BAKER, Wellsville, Ohio;, and Leah BAKER, Point Pleasant, (WV). He is survived by his devoted companion and the above named children, two grandsons, Edwin and Martin. He is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: Clara KING, Leon; Moses M. BAKER, Columbus, Ohio; Minnie CASTO, Leon; Thomas N. BAKER, Leon; and Leona CASTO, Davis, WV., and a number of other relatives and friends who will mourn his departure. Martha H. BALCH Mrs. Martha H. BALCH, widow of the late Samuel BALCH, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Thomas STEWART, with whom she was living, on Stone Ridge, Saturday evening at 8 o'clock, agd 67. Lung trouble brought on by bronchitis was the cause of death. She is survived by four sons and two daughters, William and D. B. BALCH of Thirteen, D. O. BALCH of Mason County, and Q. A. BALCH of Rt. 1; Mrs. Lawson CASTO of near Danstown, and Mrs. Thomas STEWART of Stone Ridge. The funeral occurred Monday at Foster Chapel. Rev. Alfred BACHUS of the M. E. Church officiated. Homer Clyde BARBER LEXINGTON, Ky. - Homer Clyde "Buck" Barber, 83, of Lexington, formerly of Parkersburg, W.Va., died Nov. 20, 1997, at home. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, former owner of Buck's Barber Shop, Parkersburg, and a member and deacon of Memorial Baptist Church, Lexington. Surviving: wife, Areva Moody Barber; son, Jeff of Lexington; daughters, Janice Horrell of Martinsville, Ind., Joyce Shank of Westwood, Kansas; stepdaughters, Terry Hauser of Linton, Ind., Kay Cox of Nicholasville, Ky.; brothers, Wayne and Bill, both of Ripley, W.Va., John of Evans, W.Va., Arch of Dayton; sisters, Velma Sharp, Goldie CASTO and June Corbin, all of Ravenswood; five grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren. Service will be 10 a.m. Monday at CASTO Funeral Home, Ravenswood, W.Va., with the Rev. Bob Justice officiating. Burial will be in Ravenswood Cemetery.
