Althea Mae CASTO
Althea Mae CASTO, 93, of Nitro died Sept. 14, 1998, in Belle's Personal Care Home, St. Albans, after a long illness. She was a homemaker, a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Nitro, was a lifelong resident of Nitro and co-founder of CASTO Hardware Co. Surviving: sons, Russell "Corky" CASTO of Nitro, Thomas F. CASTO of Cross Lanes; three grandchildren. Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, West Virginia Mausoleum Chapel. Burial will be in the memory gardens. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Cooke Funeral Home, Nitro. (Sep. 15, 1998)
America M. (Butcher) CASTO
Mrs. America M. (Butcher) CASTO, wife of N. L. CASTO, died Sunday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. R. H. Rhodes at Belgrove, of complications of diseases, age 69. Mrs. CASTO was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Butcher. She was born on Feb. 14, 1842, near Barboursville, Cabell County. She was converted and united with the M. E. Church at the age of 14 and lived the life of a true Christian. Deceased is survived by her husband and two daughters. Mrs. R. H. Rhodes of Belgrove, and Mrs. O. P. Rhodes of Ripley. The funeral occurred Monday at Falling Waters U. B. Church, services conducted by Rev. A. B. Parsons, her pastor, after which the remains were interred in the nearby cemetery. Anna Dale CASTO Miss Anna Dale CASTO, 28, formerly of Ripley, died at her home in Dunbar on Thursday after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held at the Cunningham Funeral Home in Charleston Sunday with Rev. Hobson D. FISHER in charge and the body was brought to the Fairplain Cemetery for burial. Anna (Kerwood) CASTO
Funeral services were held Saturday morning at the Fairplain church for Mrs. Anna E. Casto, 81, wife of I.C. Casto of Fairplain who died at her home there Thursday (Jan. 5, 1950) following a long illness. The Rev. Rankin Roach officiated at the service and the burial was in the Casto cemetery. The Vail undertakers had charge of the arrangements for the funeral and burial. Mrs. Casto was born at Pt. Pleasant on November 18, 1878, a daughter of Elias and Katherine King Kerwood. She had been a member of the Methodist church for seventy years. Surviving in addition to her husband are the following children, O.C. Casto and O.K. Casto, both of Racine, Ohio; a daughter, Mrs. Pauline Powers of Beckley, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. One daughter preceded the mother in death.
Arthur O. CASTO
RED HOUSE - Arthur O. "Pete" CASTO, 77, of Red House, Putnam County, died July 2, 1999, at home after a long illness. He was a retired construction worker, a farmer and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Turkey Branch Community Church, Buffalo, and Laborers Local 1353, Charleston. Surviving: sons, Arthur Dwight of Toast, N.C., Keith M. of Red House; sisters, Vada Riffee of Red House, Elizabeth Warner of Leon, Thelma Blake of Eleanor; brothers, Bill of Given, Bob of Eleanor, Arnold of Westerville, Ohio, Troy of Robertsburg; four grandchildren; one great-grandson. Service will be 2 p.m. today at Raynes Funeral Home, Buffalo, with the Rev. Paul Arthur officiating. Entombment will be in Haven of Rest Mausoleum, Red House. (Charleston Gazette, Jul. 5, 1999)

Bayless CASTO Bayless CASTO, former resident of Ripley, died Monday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lela HARRISON of Charleston, Route 4, after a long illness. He was aged 57 years. Mr. CASTO was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Barney CASTO, and for many years resided in this county. Besides the daughter, with whom he made his home, he is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Albert RHODES of Mason County; a brother, Elias CASTO of Evans Route, and a sister, Mrs. Mary ATKINS of Dunbar. The body was removed to the Cunningham Funeral Home in Charleston but funeral arrangements had not been completed. (Friday, 21Nov 1941)
